Dr. Reeves

Dr. Reeves, Certified Psychologist

Nice to meet you, I am Dr. Reeves, a Certified Psychologist, recognised and accredited by the Swiss Federation of Psychologists (FSP). I offer professional psychological counselling for individuals and couples from my private practice in Uster and online.

In a nutshell, I am a Psychologist with a deep passion for helping people to overcome life’s obstacles and to transform their lives into lives that they are excited about living!

My background

I have nine years of psychological training, qualifying as a psychologist in 2016 and earning the title ‘Doctor of Psychology’ in 2020. In addition to my training, I am highly experienced in working with people of all different backgrounds and cultures.

I began working in healthcare in 2008 and my work experience ranges from support work for learning difficulties to scientific research in palliative care services. In 2016, as part of my training as a health psychologist, I worked with breast cancer patients at a National Health Service (NHS) outpatient hospital in London on promoting adherence to a leading breast cancer drug. I was devastated to learn that many women preferred to risk the return of cancer than to continue taking their medication because they felt that their quality of life suffered too much as a consequence. This stirred up in me a passion for ensuring that every individual feels that they can enjoy life to their fullest, despite illness or circumstance. This passion drove me to undertake my doctorate degree in psychology with a focus on how to provide the highest quality of care for people with chronic and terminal illnesses. Now I provide support for others, with full-confidence that quality of life is possible for everyone, without exception.

I am convinced that no situation is hopeless and no life is beyond positive transformation!

In addition to offering therapy services, I hold a post as Project Manager at the Swiss School of Public Health (SSPH+) which is the national coordinating body for the promotion of post-graduate education and research in public health sciences in Switzerland.

On a personal level, I am a warm hearted, open-minded person with a deep desire to help others realize their best selves. I am also a Christian and I believe that my faith is one of the reasons I can approach circumstances without judgement, but with kindness and compassion. I respect people from all walks of life and am accustomed to working with individuals from different understandings of life. Part of my deep appreciation for different people comes from the fact that I have lived all over the globe- from South America to the Czech Republic. Today, I am a British-Italian expat living in Switzerland. I am married to a Dutch man and together we have a full-house, made up of three beautiful (but naughty!) cats, an adorable little West Highland white terrier and a baby boy on the way.

I am privileged to be a part of your journey!

  • I want to help you as much as you want to receive help. This means that I am fully committed to making sure that each individual that seeks my help receives my full support.

  • What does that mean? Well, it means that I know a little bit about struggles in life- we all have our hardships, in one way or another. So, whilst your story might not be the same as mine, my ability to understand pain, empathize with you and support you is there, no matter what.

  • Since psychological counselling is complex and delicate as it deals with the intricate lives and circumstances of individuals, it requires highly specialised training, knowledge of the field and experience. I am officially recognised as a Certified Psychologist by the Swiss Federation of Psychologists (FSP) and a member of the Cantonal Association of Zurich Psychologists (ZüPP) and the British Psychological Society (BPS). This means that I meet the requirements to lawfully practice as a psychologist in Switzerland. I have achieved the highest possible training available for a psychologist, having completed a doctorate in the field and I continue to regularly take supportive counselling trainings to ensure that my approaches are broad and up to date, according to the latest developments in the field of psychology.

  • I appreciate that you take the initiative to make this step in allowing me to help you be the person you’re intended to be and change your life for the better.

  • I work with a range of people, from all backgrounds, denominations, cultures and faiths. I provide therapy for those who battle with many different types of problems; from feeling overwhelmed at work to relationship struggles. Whatever you may be dealing with, I am here to help.

  • All our conversations are private and confidential. During our time together you can be certain that I will not judge you but listen and understand you. Therapy sessions are offered at my comfortable private practice in Uster and can also be done from the comfort of your own home online.
